“The Window of Your Eyes” consists of 200 logs, arranged vertically like a sort of fairy ring among the trees, in the park-like landscape near the Provincial House in Assen. The logs in the inner rings are interrupted in the middle by glass tubes containing LEDs that spread a diffuse glow. The tubes outline an image of a transparent sphere, a luminous shape where color nuances of the sky seem to be reflected. The light alternately evokes various associations: a whirlwind, a cloud, mist, or the “witte wieven” (mythical white ladies). The work seeks to connect with the tradition of major interventions in the landscape initiated in the 1970s by Robert Smithson. At the same time, the bowl shape that appears to float in the work refers to the Balloër Kuil, which has functioned as a historic meeting place at this location.
