Located 30 meters above the ground at the edge of a rooftop in Utrecht, small red LEDs move past each other at speeds ranging from 195 meters per hour to 195 kilometers per hour. Created by artist Floris Van Manen, the piece symbolizes the “dosage of time in space.” The lights transform the building’s rooftop into a dynamic, living edge within the cityscape, both by day and night.
We have completely remade the original artwork from 1995, with attention to the distinct qualities of 90’s LED technology. The new installation preserves the original’s concept while incorporating modern advancements to ensure continued performance and impact.
